How to check a price on Telegram — barcode, photo or name
Three ways to ask, and what location adds to the answer
The moment when checking a price is most worthwhile is the moment when it is least convenient: you are standing in the aisle, product in hand, with no appetite for opening a browser and typing a long name.
1. Barcode — the precise way
Scan the barcode with the camera or simply type the digits under the bars. A barcode identifies exactly one product — same manufacturer, same pack size.
So the comparison you get is the same product across chains, rather than a set of things that look alike but differ in size or brand.
2. Photo — the fast way
Shoot the package and send it to the bot; it tries to identify the product from the image and returns the prices.
That helps when the barcode is creased, hidden or out of reach. In poor light, or with only part of the package visible, a barcode still gives a more certain answer.
3. Free text — the natural way
Just write "milk 3% Tnuva", or something less exact, and the bot searches for matches.
Searching by name is most useful when you are planning a shop from home and the product is not in your hand.
4. Location — what turns a correct answer into a useful one
The cheapest price in the country does not help if it sits in a branch an hour away. Share your location and the bot favours branches near you, showing the distance next to the price.
You then see not only what it costs but whether the trip is worth it. Without a location you still get an answer — nationwide, with no recommendation about where to buy. The location can be updated or removed at any time.
