QuickCheck app — privacy policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

This page describes what the QuickCheck app for iPhone and Android collects, why, who receives it, how long it is kept and how to delete it. The website has its own privacy page.

Who is responsible

The app (QuickCheck, from the Comuni brand) is operated by Pictalingo, which is responsible for the personal information described here. Contact: [email protected].

You do not have to give us anything

Providing personal information is not required by law. Search, barcode scanning, price comparison, deals and shopping lists kept on your phone all work without an account, a name, an email address or a phone number.

Without an email address you cannot create an account or sync your lists; without a verified phone number you cannot share lists; without your location or a place you type, results for nearby branches may be unavailable.

What we collect and why

  • Location. Only while you use the app and only if you allow it — or a city or address you type instead. It is sent with searches and comparisons so we can show nearby branches and their prices. It is not used to track you and is never shown to other users. If you save a home city or places to your account, they are stored with the account.
  • Searches and scanned barcodes. Sent to our server to look up prices. The camera image never leaves your phone.
  • Account (optional). Your email address, your password (stored only as a one-way hash) and the name you choose. The name is what people on lists you share see.
  • Phone number (only to share lists). Used to verify that an invitation reaches the right person. It is stored with your account and never shown to other users.
  • Shopping lists, favourites and price alerts. Stored so they sync between your devices and with the people you share a list with. What you add to a shared list is visible to its members.
  • Device information. A random installation ID created by the app, the device model, the operating system and app versions, language and time zone, sent when the app starts so we can operate the service and fix problems. This is not the advertising ID.
  • Problem reports you send. Your message, an optional name and email address, and the device information above.
  • Reports and blocks. When you report an item on a shared list or block a person, we keep the report, including a copy of the reported text, so a person can review it.

What we do not do

The app shows no ads, does not use the advertising ID, contains no advertising or tracking SDK, does not sell personal information and does not access your contacts, photos or microphone.

Who receives data

We require the service providers that process data for us to protect it to a level consistent with this policy and the law. We do not share personal information with anyone else unless the law requires it.

Personal information may therefore be processed outside Israel, including in the European Union, subject to the Israeli rules on transferring information abroad.

  • Contabo hosts our servers in the European Union.
  • Google (Places API). When you type an address, our server sends that text to Google to find the place.
  • Google (ML Kit, Android only). The barcode scanner library in the Android app sends Google technical data — device model, operating system and app versions, performance figures and a random installation ID — for diagnostics and usage statistics. It never receives the camera image or the barcodes you scan.
  • Resend delivers the emails we send.
  • OpenAI receives product and branch names, never personal information, to translate them.
  • Retailers' image servers. Product pictures are loaded directly from them, so those servers may receive your IP address and standard network request information.
  • Apple and Google handle app downloads and updates under their own policies.

How long we keep it

  • Account data: until you delete the account.
  • Deleting the account removes its data from our active systems promptly. Residual copies may remain in backups for up to 14 days and are deleted as those backups expire.
  • Server logs, which include IP addresses and request details such as the location sent with a search, are overwritten as they fill up — at current traffic after about three days.
  • Problem reports and content reports: until the issue is handled, and longer only where needed to prevent abuse or meet a legal obligation.

Deleting your data

  • In the app: Profile → Delete account. For each shared list you own you choose whether to give it to someone on it or delete it for everyone. If a list passes to another member, what it needs may remain on it, but it is no longer connected to you.
  • Without the app: https://comuni.co.il/en/delete-account
  • Lists kept only on your phone are removed when you delete the app.

Your rights

Under Israel's Protection of Privacy Law you may ask to see the information we hold about you and to have it corrected. Depending on where you live you may have further rights. Write to [email protected] and we will answer.

Children

The app is intended for adults and is not directed at children.

Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as hashes, and access to the servers is restricted.

Changes

When the way the app handles information changes, we update this page and its date.
